Workspace Hoteling Programs Are “Inn”

AUSTIN, Texas and LONDON (Jan. 29, 2015) – About one third of organizations have a workspace hoteling program in place and another one third are considering it, according to a global survey conducted by Asure Software (Nasdaq: ASUR), a leading provider of workplace and workforce management software solutions. Asure conducted the survey to assess the prevalence of hoteling, its perceived benefits, and how it is being executed. The online survey received 154 responses from organizations in the United States, as well as Australia, Canada, India and the United Kingdom.
More than one third of respondents said 25 percent or less of their workforce is virtual and almost a quarter of respondents said that more than 25 percent of their workforce operates virtually. “Interestingly, many respondents indicated in their written responses that they maintain assigned desks for telecommuting employees who may only be in the office a few days each week,” said Jennifer Roth, Global Senior Vice President of Marketing, Asure Software. “With workspace costs conservatively at $10,000 a year or more, it’s surprising that more organizations aren’t taking advantage of the financial benefits a hoteling program provides.”

Additional key survey findings include:
- Perceived Benefits: Organizations with current hoteling programs see a balance of benefits, placing more value on collaboration that participants who are considering a hoteling program. And those considering a hoteling program place more value on the use of space and guaranteed workspace for employees.
- Organizational Involvement: Respondents indicated that executive team members are frequently involved in hoteling programs as stakeholders, while program maintenance typically falls under facilities or IT.
